Frederick Douglas

MEDIUM:
Water-based clay

TYPE OF WORK:
Portrait

COMMENTS:

Saw a special on Frederick Douglas and couldn't get over his powerful face, so turned the first, failed sculpture of Rose (she wouldn't sit still long enough) into the famous black Abolitionist. His Don King hair took 25 lbs of clay.

YEAR:
1996
