Creating a sculpture is a multi-step process, based on good communication with you, the client, and keeing it simple, so the magic can happen.
1. With your ideas in mind, I will develop a concept and inspiration for the sculpture. This may require a site visit to evaluate possibilities, take photos and log measurements.
2. If you wish to proceed, I will prepare a cost estimate and draft contract. Generally, the contract will stipulate ½ down to start and ½ upon completion.
3. I will develop rough sketches or drawings, as needed, and prepare a clay maquette or small model, and send pictures of this maquette to you for comment.
4. I will continue to adjust the maquette and send pictures, until we are both happy.
5. I will build up an armature and/or polystyreneunderbody, and plastilene overcoat to the full size of the finished sculpture. I spend a lot of time on the details, at this point.
6. Once you have seen the completed plastilene model in person or from pictures, and approve, I will deliver it to the foundry for the “lost-wax” process of molding, bronze casting, and patination.
7. When the bronze sculpture is complete, I will contact you for delivery. If necessary, I will personally oversee installation.
